Connect your eBay account

Link your eBay seller store to GridX Connect on the Channels page: connect, choose your primary marketplace, and set your shipping, return and payment policies.

What connecting eBay does

Connecting your eBay account links your eBay seller store to GridX Connect so you can list parts, push revisions, and track sales without leaving the app. You connect once, choose which eBay marketplace is your main store, and pick the business policies your listings will use.

The connection lives on the Channels page, opened from the left sidebar — not in Settings. Today GridX Connect lists on eBay Motors only, across two marketplaces: eBay US (ebay.com) and eBay UK (ebay.co.uk). Other channels shown on the page — eBay Germany, eBay Australia, Amazon and Shopify — are marked Coming soon and cannot be connected yet.

Connecting, disconnecting and editing policies are company-admin actions. Staff members can open the Channels page but cannot make these changes.

> [!NOTE] > Some older in-app messages point you to "Settings → Channels". There is no Channels section in Settings — the connection is on the Channels page in the sidebar.

Before you start

  • You are a company admin. Non-admins see Only admins can modify on the policy controls.
  • You have an eBay seller account, with shipping, return and payment business policies already created in eBay. If you have none yet, GridX Connect will point you to create them on eBay first.
  • Your browser allows pop-ups for GridX Connect — the eBay sign-in opens in a pop-up window.
  • US sellers: you know your postal/ZIP code, which eBay requires in your seller location.

Steps

  1. Open Channels from the left sidebar.
  2. Click Connect eBay. The button reads Connecting… while it works. (Company admins only.)
  3. In the Connect your eBay store window, choose which marketplace is your primary store — United States or United Kingdom. As the window explains, "Which marketplace is your primary store? Its business policies drive your setup — you can add the other one later." Click Continue.
  4. A pop-up window titled eBay Authorization opens on eBay's own sign-in page. Sign in and agree to connect GridX Connect. If nothing opens, your browser has blocked the pop-up (see the last section).
  5. When the window closes, GridX Connect confirms with eBay account connected successfully! Now configure your business policies. The page header now reads Connected, with your marketplace beside it.
  6. Set your business policies and seller location, described below, so your listings have terms to publish with.

Connecting is the first of the setup steps eBay needs before a listing can go live. The others — business policies, a seller location, your listing policies and a SKU prefix — are all completed from this same Channels page. If any are missing when you try to publish, GridX Connect shows a Complete Setup Required screen with a Go to Setup button that brings you back here.

Choose your primary marketplace

The Connect your eBay store picker asks for your primary store first because that marketplace's business policies drive the rest of your setup. Choose United States or United Kingdom. You do not have to connect both at once — you can add the second eBay marketplace afterwards from the same Channels page.

On the marketplace grid, eBay US and eBay UK are the two you can use now, and your primary store carries a Primary badge. eBay Germany and eBay Australia show a Coming soon pill. A separate More sales channels slot notes that "Amazon, Shopify and more — each connects as its own channel alongside eBay, with its own marketplaces." None of those can be connected today.

Set your business policies

Every listing needs three eBay business policies, chosen per marketplace on the Channels page:

| Policy | What it sets | |---|---| | Shipping Policy | How the item ships and what postage costs | | Return Policy | Whether and how buyers can return the item | | Payment Policy | How buyers pay |

Pick each one from its dropdown — the options are the policies you have already created in eBay — then click Save Policies. Your primary marketplace's policies are shown read-only; use Change to edit them. To set policies for a second marketplace, select its card and complete the form. If you have not created any policies in eBay yet, the panel reads No eBay business policies yet and offers Create policies on eBay plus a Refresh button — make them in eBay, then refresh.

Two account-wide settings sit under Account defaults ("Apply to every eBay marketplace on your account."):

  • Listing Defaults — your seller location: Country, City and Postal/ZIP. US sellers must save a ZIP, or eBay rejects the listing.
  • HTML Listing Policies — free-text Payment, Shipping, Returns, Handling Time and International notes that appear in your listing descriptions.

> [!NOTE] > Shipping, return and payment policies are set once per marketplace here — not per item. On an individual part you can override the shipping policy only; returns and payment always come from these account settings.

For a deeper guide to business policies — creating them on eBay, US and UK per-marketplace setup, how they differ from HTML Listing Policies, and fixing a publish blocked by a policy — see Set up your eBay business policies.

What "Connected" and "Live" mean

Two indicators tell you the link is healthy. The Channels header shows Connected with a green dot and your marketplace once your store is linked (for example, "Connected · eBay US"); before that it reads Not connected — "connect your seller account to start." On the marketplace grid, a marketplace you are set up on shows a Live pill, one you can add but have not shows Available, and future ones show Coming soon.

Live on the Channels page means the marketplace itself is connected and ready to receive your listings. That is different from a single listing being live: an individual part shows Live on eBay once you publish it, which is covered in Publish your first listing.

Disconnecting your account

To disconnect, open the (more) menu on your connected account row and choose Disconnect account (company admins only). Confirm on the Disconnect eBay account? dialog, which warns "You will need to reconnect before publishing listings again." A eBay account disconnected message confirms it is done.

There is no separate "Reconnect" button. To connect again, run Connect eBay exactly as you did the first time.
