Publish your first listing

The full path from a new account to a live eBay listing: set your SKU prefix, connect eBay, add a part, add a photo, and publish.

From an empty account to your first listing

This guide takes a brand-new account from nothing to a first part listed on eBay. There are five stages: set your SKU prefix, connect your eBay store, add a part, add a photo, and publish. You only do the first two once; after that, adding and publishing parts is a quick routine.

A few things this path does not do. GridX Connect lists on eBay Motors only, on eBay US and eBay UK — the other channels shown in the app are not live yet. Nothing goes to eBay on its own: a part sits in your Inventory as a draft until you click Publish. And publishing is a company-admin action — staff can prepare parts but cannot publish them.

How many parts you can list depends on your plan. The Free plan allows 50 SKUs in total — a lifetime allowance that does not reset — while paid plans give you a monthly allowance.

Before you start

  • Company-admin access — needed both to connect eBay and to publish.
  • Your eBay seller account, with business policies already created in eBay.
  • The OE or manufacturer number of the part you want to list.
  • US sellers: your postal/ZIP code.

Steps

  1. Set your SKU prefix. Open Settings › SKU and save a 2–5 character prefix; every SKU is built from it. Without one, Process SKU in the next stages will not run. Full detail: Set up your SKU prefix.
  2. Connect your eBay store. Open Channels, click Connect eBay, choose your primary marketplace, and sign in. Then set your shipping, return and payment policies and your seller location. Full detail: Connect your eBay account.
  3. Add a part. Open Add Part from the sidebar. Choose the Part type (OEM, Aftermarket or Private Label), type the Part number (for example, 8V0615601A), enter the Vehicle make, choose Condition (New or Used — choosing Used sets the type to OEM), and set Price (above 0) and Qty (1 or more). For Aftermarket, pick a Brand from the list; for Private Label, type it.
  4. Create the part. Click Process SKU. GridX Connect writes the eBay title, matches the vehicle fitments, selects the eBay category, and creates the SKU, then saves the part to your Inventory. Click View item to open it.
  5. Add a photo. On the part in Inventory, open the Product Images section and add at least one photo. You can add up to 24 (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, under 10MB each); the first becomes the Main image. Without a photo the part reads Needs images and cannot be published.
  6. Publish. In the part's eBay panel, click the blue Publish on the Ready to publish row. On a multi-marketplace account a Publish to picker opens — tick eBay US, eBay UK or both, then confirm. The status moves to Publishing, then Live on eBay.
  7. Open your listing. Click View (or the eye icon) to see the live listing on eBay.

What GridX Connect fills in for you

You supply the part number, vehicle make, condition, price and quantity. When you click Process SKU, GridX Connect does the rest:

Statuses you will see

As a part moves from draft to live, the eBay panel on the part shows these statuses:

The Inventory list row and the mobile card can word the same states differently — for example Draft, Live or Failed — so do not be thrown if the wording changes between screens.

Adding parts in volume

Adding one part at a time with Add Part is ideal for your first listing. Once you are comfortable, there are faster routes into Inventory: Bulk Upload builds many parts from a spreadsheet (availability depends on your plan), YardScan creates parts from a vehicle by its VIN, and Quick Import brings in parts from Shopee links. You can then publish many at once: in Inventory, tick the parts and click the green Publish in the bulk toolbar, which sends up to 3,000 parts per run.

If something goes wrong

When a publish fails, the reason and the fix come from eBay's own message shown on the part — there is no fixed list of errors inside GridX Connect. Read the reason behind the Failed pill, correct that on the part's detail page, and publish again; re-running Publish is how you retry.
