Revise a live listing

Your edits stay in GridX Connect until you push them to eBay with Revise. Learn how to revise one listing or many, and where 'Needs revision' shows up.

When you edit a part that is already live on eBay, your changes are saved on the part but the eBay listing keeps its old details until you push them. That push is called Revise. The listing is marked as needing revision until you do it, and your edits sit waiting with no time limit. You can revise one part, or select many and revise them together.

Revise only ever applies to a listing that is already live. If a part was never published, you publish it; if its listing has ended, you republish it. Revise is not a way to fix a failed publish either — a failed publish never went live, so you retry it instead.

> [!WARNING] > Editing a part never changes your eBay listing on its own. Every edit — including saving fitments, changing photos, running PartSnap, bulk editing, and bulk repricing — waits until you Revise. Only a field edit followed by Save prompts you afterwards; the rest mark the listing quietly, so it is easy to leave changes unpushed.

Before you start

  • The part is live on eBay already — revise applies only to an existing listing.
  • Your eBay account is still connected.
  • You are a company admin. The Revise controls appear only for admins, the same as publishing. Staff can edit parts but cannot push those edits to eBay.

What marks a listing as needing revision

Any of these leave a live listing waiting for a push. Only the first prompts you at the time — the rest change the part without a prompt, so check for them later:

  • Editing a field and pressing Save on a live part (this is the one that prompts you).
  • Saving fitments — you get a Fitments saved message and nothing else.
  • Adding, removing, or reordering photos.
  • Running or removing PartSnap.
  • A bulk Edit, or a bulk Shipping policy update.
  • Bulk repricing — the toast says Active eBay listings flagged for revision.
  • The Excel Bulk Update flow when you leave its sync box unticked — the receipt then reports Flagged in Needs Revision.

Steps

  1. Edit the part and press Save. If it is live, a prompt opens by itself, headed Changes saved locally.
  2. Read the change preview. Each changed field shows on its own row: the current eBay value struck through in red, an arrow, then your new value in green.
  3. On a multi-marketplace account, pick the marketplace in the Marketplace list. Switching re-checks that marketplace.
  4. Press Update eBay to push now, or Not Now to leave it. Not Now is safe — your edits are already saved on the part; only the push is waiting.
  5. To come back to it later, open the part and press the blue Revise button on the amber Needs revision row.
  6. Watch the result. On eBay US the push is immediate and there is no success message — the row turns green Live on eBay, and that colour change is your confirmation. On eBay UK you get Revising on eBay… and it runs in the header activity bar.

> [!WARNING] > On a single-marketplace (US-only) account, the blue Revise button pushes to eBay immediately — no confirm and no preview. The field-by-field preview only appears in the post-save Changes saved locally prompt, or on multi-marketplace accounts.

If nothing actually differs between the part and the live listing, the prompt tells you eBay listing is already in sync. In that case the Update eBay button is removed and Not Now is your only option — you cannot force a push when there is nothing to send.

Revising many at once

Tick the parts in Inventory and press the amber Revise in the bulk toolbar (company admins only). GridX Connect checks your selection and reports {n} items will be revised — or No items need revision — and how many were skipped, worded {n} skipped (not published or no changes). Parts that are not live, and live parts with nothing pending, are dropped for you, so you do not need to filter the list first. Press Revise {N} Items to start.

Progress for a bulk revise appears only in the header activity bar — there is no on-page banner — reading for example eBay Revise: 45 items, then eBay Revise: 12/45 (11 ok, 1 failed), and settling at eBay Revise: 42 revised, 3 failed. You can navigate away or refresh and it carries on. A clean run shows no pop-up; the activity line is your only confirmation, and the warning markers clear from the parts that went through. A Revise Completed modal opens only if something failed, listing each failed part with eBay's error. Bulk revise shows a count, never which fields will change — to see the fields, revise that part on its own.

A quicker route: click the amber Needs update chip in the attention bar above the list, then its one-tap Revise button — it picks up every part with unpushed edits in that bucket.

Where revision shows up

The same "live, with edits not yet pushed" state is worded differently across surfaces, so look in the right place:

Nothing outside Inventory tells you that parts are waiting — there is no notification, header badge, or dashboard count — so the Needs update chip is the reliable way to catch edits that changed the part quietly.

If something goes wrong

A part shows Revise failed. eBay rejected the push. The red row shows eBay's own message plus the attempt count and date, and it stays there after you close the prompt so you can return to it. Fix the field eBay names on the part, then press the red Retry (in the post-save dialog this button reads Retry Update). Retry re-sends the part as it stands now — nothing retries on its own — so correct the part first or it fails again.

"eBay listing is already in sync." Nothing differs between your part and the live listing, so there is nothing to push. Press Not Now — the Update button is removed on purpose.

"No items need revision" after a bulk revise. Every part you selected was dropped because none is both live and changed. Cancel, then filter by Needs Revision or use the Needs update chip to gather only the parts that qualify.

I edited fitments or photos and eBay did not change. Those edits do not prompt you — they mark the listing quietly. Open the part and press Revise, or catch them with the Needs update chip.

"Revise on eBay" in the row menu did nothing. The Revise on eBay item in a row's ⋮ menu only opens the part's detail — it does not push. The real Revise button is inside, on the part's amber eBay row.

It says the listing is not live / has ended. Revise applies only to a live listing. If the part was never published, publish it first; if the listing ended or was removed on eBay, republish it instead of revising.

Your eBay connection has stopped working. If a push reports a connection problem, reconnect eBay on the Channels page, then revise again.
