PartSnap placeholder images

Generate a branded placeholder image when you have no real photo yet, on one part or in bulk.

PartSnap placeholder images

PartSnap builds a branded placeholder image so you can get a listing live when you have no real photo yet. It is a 1600×1600 image carrying the part number, condition, make or brand, and your store logo on a template background, and it lands in the part's Product Images with a PartSnap badge.

A PartSnap image is a temporary stand-in, not a real photo. GridX Connect asks you to replace it with real product photos within 30 days. Its own banner reads: "PartSnap images are temporary placeholders" and "Replace them with real product photos within 30 days to maintain customer trust. Use Image Drive or image URL uploads to update live listings."

PartSnap needs a paid plan and a store logo. You can run it on one part yourself, or, as a company admin, on many parts at once. The logo, the template, and bulk runs are set by admins; the single-part PartSnap button is open to everyone.

> [!NOTE] > On some screens PartSnap's plan message still names Growth, a retired plan. The current paid plans are Pro, Plus and Enterprise, so read "Growth or Pro" as Pro or above.

Before you start

  • A paid plan — Pro or above.
  • A store logo uploaded at Settings → PartSnap (PNG or JPEG, under 5MB; a square PNG with a see-through background at 500×500px works best).
  • For bulk PartSnap, bulk Remove PartSnap, and the Settings → PartSnap tab: company-admin access. The single-part PartSnap button is not admin-only.

Steps

  1. Open the part in Inventory and scroll to Product Images.
  2. Click the black PartSnap button in the header. (It is hidden once the part has 24 photos.)
  3. The first time, a Before You Generate notice appears. Read it and click I Understand, Generate. Tick Don't show this again to stop it returning — the image generates either way.
  4. The placeholder lands in the gallery with a PartSnap badge. You can now publish the part to eBay.
  5. Within 30 days, add real photos, then click the white Remove PartSnap to take the placeholder off.

Run PartSnap on many parts

Bulk PartSnap is admin-only. Tick the parts in Inventory and click PartSnap (Snap on a phone) in the bulk toolbar. The Run PartSnap modal shows the count and a template grid: System Default is always the first card, and your saved template carries a green Default pill and comes pre-picked. Choosing another card applies to that run only and leaves your saved default untouched. Parts that already have a PartSnap image are always skipped — there is no switch to change that.

To gather every part that needs a photo, click the No images chip in the attention bar; it selects them all in one tap.

Set your logo and template

Go to Settings → PartSnap (admins only). Here you upload your Store Logo — the note reads "Your logo appears on every PartSnap image" — and choose your Image Template. The built-in Default card is "Diamond plate + yellow bar". A How It Works card shows a sample and explains the images are "1600x1600px with part number, condition, make/brand, and your logo."

To build your own, click Create Template. Upload a background image (PNG or JPEG, 1600×1600px, up to 10MB), then position the five zones on it — Part Number, Product Name, Logo, Condition and Brand/Make — using the Zone Properties panel, and check it with Preview. Use Set as Default on a card to make it the one used for new PartSnap images. Custom templates are a further step up from PartSnap itself; if you do not see Create Template, they are not on your plan.

Remove a PartSnap image

On a single part, the white Remove PartSnap button replaces the PartSnap button whenever a placeholder exists. Click it and confirm. If the listing is live and has other photos, a second notice appears — Remove & update eBay pushes the change to your live listing. The button is greyed out when the placeholder is the only photo on a live listing, because eBay cannot leave a listing with no photo; add a real photo first.

Admins can remove in bulk. Tick the parts, open the bulk toolbar's kebab () and choose Remove PartSnap (Un-Snap). It always sits in the kebab at every screen size. Also update live eBay listings is off by default every time you open the modal, so live listings keep their placeholder unless you tick it. A run handles up to 2,000 parts.
