Part out a whole vehicle

Take one dismantled car from My Yard to listed parts: add and identify the parts, price them, add condition notes, and push the batch to your inventory.

What "parting out" means here

Your salvage cars live in My Yard — your donor-vehicle catalog. Parting out is taking one of those cars and pulling every saleable part from it to list. In YardScan you work through a car's parts on its own page: name each part, let YardScan identify it, set a price, and push the batch to your Inventory. Everything stays organised by vehicle, so a whole car's parts stay together from the yard to your listings.

Before you start

  • The vehicle added to My Yard (by VIN or by hand).
  • The parts pulled and to hand, so you can name them and set each one's price and quantity as you go.
  • Your eBay store connected, if you want to publish straight after — parts push to your Inventory, and you publish from there.

Open the vehicle

From My Yard, tap the vehicle's card. Its page opens with a compact header — photo, make and model, VIN, mileage and an estimated market value — and the Parts table below, where you do the work.

Add and identify the parts

1. Add the parts. Use the Quick add chips — common parts ranked for this vehicle, like Alternator or Headlight Assembly — or type a part name into the table (for example "front brake pads"). Add as many rows as you're pulling. 2. Identify them. Press the green Identify parts button above the table (it shows the count — for example Identify 3 parts). YardScan finds each part's OE number and the vehicles it fits. 3. Handle anything that needs a look. After identifying, each part shows a status: - Identified — its OE number is filled in. Nothing more to do. - Needs choice — the part comes in more than one variant for this vehicle. Press Choose variant and pick the one you're holding (this is free). Know the exact number? Type it instead. - Not found / No OE # — YardScan couldn't pin a number. Press Enter OE # and type it, or leave it to list by title.

Not sure a part name is right? Use Suggest a standard name on the row for a "Did you mean…" prompt.

Price the parts and add condition notes

Salvage parts sell on their condition, so set that before you push:

  • Price — press Set price on a part and type your figure. (Selling on more than one eBay marketplace? Enter the price in your account's currency — GridX Connect handles the rest.)
  • Quantity — defaults to 1, which suits most salvage parts. Tap to change it.
  • Condition tags — press the tag icon on a part to add notes like "Scratches" or "small crack on lower tab". These appear in the part's listing so buyers see the true state up front.

> [!NOTE] > YardScan lists parts as New or Used only — there's no A/B/C or cosmetic grade. Describe real wear with Condition tags, and in the listing title and description, so a buyer knows exactly what they're getting.

The chips above the table help you triage a big pile: tap Ready, No price, Needs choice or Not found to filter to just those parts and select them in one go.

Push the batch to Inventory

  1. Tick the parts you want to send — or tap the Ready chip to grab every priced, identified part at once.
  2. A bar appears at the bottom. There you can set the same price or quantity across everything you've selected, then press Push to inventory.
  3. Watch the progress ("Pushing to inventory… 3/5 listed"). Each part turns to Listed, and a View in My Inventory link appears.

Your parts are now in Inventory as listings. Add any extra photos, double-check the price and title, then publish them to eBay — one at a time, or by selecting the rows and using the bulk Publish action.

Only eBay Motors is live today (eBay US and eBay UK). Other channels shown in the app aren't usable yet.

Details YardScan doesn't capture

If something goes wrong

  • A part shows "Not found". YardScan couldn't match a number. Press Enter OE # and type it by hand, or remove the row. A part with no number can still list by its title.
  • "Needs choice" won't clear. The part has more than one fitment for the vehicle. Press Choose variant and pick the one you're holding, or type the exact OE number.
  • The Identify button is greyed out. It tells you why beside it — usually "Add a part name first" (type a part into a row) or "Set the vehicle first".
  • The VIN wouldn't decode when you added the car. Add it with Enter manually instead, or see Fix a VIN that will not decode.
  • A part won't push. Check it has a price set, then try again from the bottom bar. Parts already pushed stay Listed and won't be sent twice.

When you publish, eBay may reject a listing for its own reasons — the message comes from eBay and appears on the failed part. Open it, read the reason, fix it, and publish again.
