Publish an item to eBay

Send a part from your inventory to eBay as a live listing, on eBay US, eBay UK, or both, one at a time or in bulk.

Publishing sends a part from your GridX Connect inventory to eBay so buyers can find it and buy it. You can publish one part from its detail page, or tick several parts and publish them together from the bulk toolbar. GridX Connect creates the eBay listing for you and shows the result back on the part, so you always know whether it is ready, publishing, live, or failed.

Publishing does not write your listing or set your price for you. The part goes to eBay with the price, quantity, title, and details exactly as they stand on the part. Publishing also does not connect your eBay account for you — that is a one-time step you do first on the Channels page.

Only eBay Motors is live today: eBay US and eBay UK. Other channels you may see around the app are not usable yet, so publishing always means publishing to eBay.

Before you start

• An eBay account connected on Channels. An admin opens Channels and clicks Connect eBay. Until an account is connected, publishing is blocked and you see the warning Connect eBay first with the detail Open Channels to link your eBay account.
• Your business policies and seller location set on Channels. eBay needs your Shipping Policy, Return Policy, and Payment Policy chosen for the marketplace, plus a seller location. US sellers must have a postal/ZIP code saved in that location, or eBay rejects the listing.
• At least one photo on the part. A part with no photo reads Needs images and offers an Add images button in place of Publish. You can add up to 24 photos.
• Company admin access. Publish, Revise, End, and Republish appear only for company admins. Staff members can prepare parts — edit details and add photos — but the publishing controls do not appear for them.

Steps

1. In Inventory, click a part to open its detail page, then find the eBay panel.
2. If the panel reads Needs images, click Add images and upload at least one photo. The line beneath shows your progress, for example 1 of 24 uploaded · upload at least one image to publish.
3. When the panel reads Ready to publish, click the blue Publish button.
4. On a multi-marketplace account, confirm which marketplaces to list on (see the next section). A US-only account publishes straight to eBay US.
5. Watch the status change to Publishing. You can leave the page — the work carries on in the background.
6. When the status reads Live on eBay, click View (or the eye icon) to open the real listing on eBay. US listings open on ebay.com and UK listings on ebay.co.uk.

There is no "publish succeeded" pop-up. Success shows only as the live status on the part; for a bulk run it is the completed activity entry. Only failures raise a message.

Publishing to more than one marketplace

If your account is connected to more than one eBay marketplace — eBay US and eBay UK — publishing lists the part on each marketplace you choose, and each becomes its own separate listing with its own status and its own price. There is no single combined listing.

The marketplaces are pre-selected from your Publishing defaults in Settings > Preferences, where the card reads *"Pre-select these marketplaces when you publish. You can still change them each time."* You can change the selection at the moment you publish. A US-only account sees none of this and publishes to eBay US.

Once a part is live on more than one channel, its Inventory row shows a small channels pill with a live-versus-total count, for example 2/3. Click the pill to open a per-channel view where you can View, Publish, Revise, or End each marketplace on its own — so you can publish to UK without touching US, or end one and keep the other live. The detail panel's header also sums it up, for example Live on eBay, Live on 2 channels, or Live on 2 of 3 channels.

Publishing many parts at once

To publish a batch, go to Inventory, tick the checkbox on each part (or tick the page header to select the whole page), then click the green Publish button in the bulk toolbar that appears. GridX Connect publishes the selection as one background job.

Progress shows in two places: the header activity bar, labelled eBay Publish: N items, and each row, where a blue Publishing chip becomes a green Live chip or a red Failed chip. The run keeps going even if you leave the Inventory page or refresh.

A single run publishes up to 3,000 parts. If you select more, the first 3,000 go and you see Publishing the first 3,000; run Publish again on the rest. How image-less and out-of-stock parts are handled depends on how you selected them: when you use select all across pages, parts with no photo or no stock are skipped so they are not listed; when you tick parts one by one, every ticked part is sent, so a photo-less part comes back as Failed.

> [!TIP] > Above the list, the attention bar has a Ready chip that filters to parts that have a photo and are not yet on eBay. Click it to gather everything that is ready, then select all and publish in one go.

Statuses and what they mean

The same underlying state is worded differently depending on where you look — the detail eBay panel, the desktop row, and the mobile card each use their own labels. This table uses the detail-panel wording, with the row and card equivalents noted.

A listing can also change on its own: when a part sells out or the listing ends on eBay, GridX Connect updates the status and notifies you.

If something goes wrong

"Connect eBay first" / "Open Channels to link your eBay account." No eBay account is connected. Open Channels and have an admin click Connect eBay, then publish again.

The Publish button is greyed out, or there is no button at all. A greyed-out Publish means eBay is not connected yet — connect it on Channels. If you see no Publish, Revise, or End buttons anywhere, you are not a company admin; those actions are admin-only. Ask an admin to publish, or to grant you admin access.

"Needs images" instead of Publish. The part has no photo. Click Add images, add at least one (up to 24), and the panel changes to Ready to publish.

A part shows Failed / Error / Publish failed. The publish was rejected by eBay. Click the red pill (or the Error button on the row) to open the error window. It shows eBay's own message for that part, plus a Common Solutions checklist — *Verify all required fields are filled*, *Check that category is valid for eBay Motors*, *Ensure images are uploaded (at least 1 required)*, *Confirm eBay account connection is active*. Fix what the message points at on the part's detail page, then click Retry (on the detail card this button reads Retry publish). Retry re-sends the part exactly as it stands now — it does not edit anything — so if the cause is still there it fails again. If the message is blank you see Unknown error occurred; work through the same checklist.

A US listing keeps getting rejected. Confirm your seller location on Channels has a postal/ZIP code saved. eBay requires one for US sellers.

Some bulk-selected parts did not publish. If you used select all across pages, parts with no photo or no stock are skipped on purpose. If you ticked parts individually, photo-less parts come back as Failed — add photos and re-run Publish on them.

Nothing happened when I clicked Connect eBay. Connecting opens an eBay sign-in popup. If your browser blocked it you see Popup was blocked. Please allow popups for this site and try again. Allow popups for GridX Connect, then click Connect eBay again.
