Bulk update prices and stock

Change the price and quantity of parts you already have by exporting an Excel file, editing it, and uploading it back — then push the changes to your live eBay listings.

Bulk Update changes the price and stock of parts you already have. You export an Excel file of the columns you want to edit, change the values, upload the file back, and GridX Connect updates your inventory — and, if you choose, pushes the changes to your live eBay listings.

This is the opposite job to Bulk Upload. Bulk Upload adds new parts; Bulk Update edits parts already in your inventory and never adds new ones.

Nothing changes until you upload your edited file and apply it. Uploading runs a preview — a dry run — so GridX Connect shows you exactly what will change before you commit.

> [!NOTE] > Bulk Update is a hover-to-expand button in the Inventory toolbar, marked with a pen-and-paper icon. Its tooltip reads Bulk Update — set a different price & stock for each row, in Excel. It appears only on plans that include the feature.

Before you start

  • Your plan includes the Bulk Update price-and-stock feature — the button shows in the Inventory toolbar.
  • The parts you want to change are already in your inventory. To add new parts, use Bulk Upload instead.
  • A spreadsheet editor that can save .xlsx — the upload accepts .xlsx only.
  • To push changes to eBay, your eBay channel is connected. Without one, changes save to your inventory only.

Steps

  1. In Inventory, narrow the list to the parts you want, using the filters or by selecting rows, then click Bulk Update.
  2. In the download step, tick the columns to edit. Price and Qty are on by default; Title and Seller SKU are optional. Keep at least one ticked.
  3. Check the scope — it exports the rows in your current view, or the rows you selected. Widen or narrow it with your inventory filters and selection before you download.
  4. Click Download Excel. GridX Connect prepares the workbook and your browser downloads it.
  5. Open the file and edit only the value columns. Do not change the key columns GridX Connect uses to match rows, and do not use spreadsheet formulas.
  6. Back in the drawer, upload your edited file in the second step (drag it on or click to choose).
  7. GridX Connect reads the file and shows a preview — nothing is changed until you upload and apply. Read the change summary and any flagged problems.
  8. Decide whether to push to eBay now (see below), then click Apply changes. When it finishes you see Changes applied.

Choosing which columns to edit

You must keep at least one column ticked — the export needs at least one field. The exported file contains only the columns you ticked, plus the key columns GridX Connect needs to match each row — leave those key columns as they are.

Reading the preview

Once you upload the edited file, GridX Connect reads it and shows a review in place. It tells you how many rows it read, groups the changes, and splits the live listings into three lanes:

The summary shows how many items changed, how many were unchanged, and how many have problems. Rows that already match your inventory are skipped; only rows that differ are updated.

The preview does not last forever — it expires after a while, and a countdown shows how long is left. If it lapses, upload your edited file again. If any of your quantities are 0, an amber banner warns you that those live listings will be ended.

Pushing to eBay, or saving for later

A tick box in the preview decides what reaches eBay: Update and sync {n} live listings automatically.

  • Ticked — changed live listings are pushed to eBay right away.
  • Unticked — changes save to your inventory and each affected live listing is flagged Flagged in Needs Revision; nothing is sent to eBay now. You can push them later with the Revise action, from the item or the inventory bulk-actions bar.

If you leave sync off and a quantity goes to 0, the listing is not ended for you — it stays live until you revise or end it.

When you apply changes that would end listings (their quantity is 0), GridX Connect asks you to confirm first and warns that the action can't be undone from there. Choose End & apply to go ahead, or Cancel.

While it pushes, the drawer shows Syncing to eBay… with a running count. You can close the drawer and let it finish in the background — it continues in the activity bar.

What the completion receipt shows

When the run finishes you see Changes applied and Your inventory is up to date., with a summary that can include:

If nothing needed changing, the preview shows No changes to apply. If you have no eBay channel connected, your changes are saved to your inventory only.

Failed pushes are added to the Needs Revision view automatically. There is no separate retry button — to try them again, run the Revise action once more from Inventory.

If something goes wrong

Some files are turned away as a whole:

Other rows are flagged as problems in the preview and grouped by cause — for example No matching SKU, Key column altered, Invalid price, Invalid quantity, Invalid title, Invalid seller SKU, Duplicate SKU in file, Seller SKU already in use, and Formulas not allowed. Most come from editing a key column, leaving a blank or bad value, or pasting a formula. Fix the row in your file and upload it again.

A few blocks stop the whole action:

When an eBay push fails, the reason comes from eBay itself, not from a fixed list in the app. Open the flagged listing in Needs Revision, read the reason there, correct it, and revise the listing again.
