Add a part

Create one auto-part listing in your inventory from a part number — what to enter, what GridX Connect fills in for you, and every error message with its fix.

Add Part creates one auto-part listing in your inventory from a part number. You enter the part type, part number, vehicle make, condition, price and quantity — GridX Connect writes the eBay title, matches the vehicle fitments, picks the eBay category and builds the SKU.

The part is saved to your inventory as a draft. It does not go to eBay until you publish it.

> [!NOTE] > Add Part is the item with the plus sign in the left sidebar. If you have no parts yet, the Dashboard also shows an Add your first part button. The Inventory page has no Add Part button. You may also see the page called New Listing (in the browser tab) or Quick SKU (on our website). They are the same page.

Before you start

Three things need to be in place:

  • A SKU prefix, set in Settings. Every SKU is built from it, and Process SKU will not run without one.
  • Account setup finished, including your selling channel connected.
  • The part's OE or manufacturer number — the number the manufacturer assigns, not a casting number or a stamped mark.

Steps

  1. Open Add Part from the left sidebar.
  2. Under Part type, choose OEM, Aftermarket or Private Label.
  3. In Part number, type the OE or manufacturer number — for example 8V0615601A.
  4. If the part type is Aftermarket, pick a Brand from the list. If it is Private Label, type the brand yourself. OEM parts need no brand.
  5. In Vehicle make, start typing the make and pick it from the list.
  6. Under Condition, choose New or Used.
  7. Enter your selling Price and how many you have in Qty.
  8. Click Process SKU.
  9. Click View item to go to the Inventory page, where you can find the new part, or Process another to clear the form and add the next one.

Choosing the part type

The part type decides whether you enter a brand, and how.

| Part type | Brand | Use it for | |---|---|---| | OEM | No brand field is shown | Genuine original-equipment parts | | Aftermarket | Pick from the GridX brand list | Branded replacement parts | | Private Label | Type the brand yourself | Your own or an unlisted brand |

> [!WARNING] > Choosing Used as the condition sets the part type to OEM and locks it. A used part is always OEM. If you need Aftermarket or Private Label, set the condition to New first.

GridX Connect lists parts as New or Used only. There is no refurbished condition, on this page or when you edit the part later.

Special case: Mopar and Mobis

Mopar and Mobis are the vehicle makers' own parts brands — Mopar for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM; Mobis for Hyundai and Kia. Because the maker produces them itself, those parts are genuine factory parts even though they carry a brand name.

To add one, choose Aftermarket as the part type, then pick Mopar or Mobis from the brand list. GridX Connect still lists the part as Genuine OEM and keeps the brand name on the listing.

Choosing Aftermarket is only how you reach the brand list. It does not change what the part is listed as.

What GridX Connect fills in for you

When you click Process SKU, four things are generated. You do not type any of them:

  • SKU — built from the prefix you set in Settings.
  • eBay title — written from the part number, brand and vehicle make.
  • eBay category — selected automatically.
  • Vehicle fitments — matched using the part's eBay product identifier (ePID), then listed on the part.

The SKU, title and fitments can be edited afterwards from the part in Inventory. The eBay category is shown on the part but cannot be changed there. If the fitments need adjusting, open the part, find the vehicle compatibility list and click Edit Fitments — you can change notes, apply one note to every row, or remove rows. At least one fitment has to remain.

An Engine Verified badge on a part means its compatibility is confirmed down to the exact engine, not just the broad vehicle.

Field reference

| Field | Required | Rules | |---|---|---| | Part type | Yes | OEM, Aftermarket or Private Label. A used part is always OEM. | | Part number | Yes | The OE or manufacturer number. Each part number can be used once per account. | | Brand | For Aftermarket | Aftermarket picks from the list; Private Label types it; OEM has no brand field. | | Vehicle make | Yes | Type it and pick from the list. If the make is not in the list, what you typed is used as it is. | | Condition | Yes | New or Used. | | Price | Yes | Must be greater than 0. Your price is used exactly as entered. | | Qty | Yes | A whole number, 1 or more. | | Currency | Only with more than one currency | A currency picker appears inside the Price field when your account can price in more than one currency, for example US dollars and British pounds. It starts on the currency you already see your prices in. If you enter a price that is not in US dollars, the approximate US dollar amount shows under the field. Accounts that sell in US dollars only do not see the picker. |

What happens next

The part lands in your inventory as a draft, and moves through these statuses:

  • Draft: saved, ready for photos.
  • Needs images: no photos yet, and at least one is required before publishing.
  • Ready to publish: has a photo and can go to eBay.
  • Publishing: being sent to eBay.
  • Live: on sale, with an item number buyers can see. On a computer, the Inventory row can show this as Published.
  • Needs revision: live, with changes in GridX Connect not yet sent to the listing. Click Revise to send them.
  • Ended: the eBay listing has ended.
  • Publish failed: the part did not go live.

For what each status means and where it shows, see Understand item statuses.

To get a part live: open it in Inventory, add at least one photo in the Product Images section, then click Publish. Photos cannot be added on the Add Part page — up to 24 per part, JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, under 10MB each and at least 500px on the shortest side. The first photo carries the Main badge and becomes the main eBay photo.

> [!TIP] > Not sure what to charge? Use the market price tool on the item's row in Inventory, or search the part number in Market Research. The figure shown is the eBay median from comparable listings — you always set the final price.

Adding parts another way

Add Part handles one part at a time. For volume:

  • Bulk Upload — add many parts from a spreadsheet. Availability depends on your plan.
  • YardScan — add a scrapped vehicle by its VIN, then add and identify its parts.
  • Quick Import — paste Shopee product links and import those parts.

If something goes wrong

| Message | Why | Fix | |---|---|---| | Part number is required | No part number entered | Type the OE or manufacturer number. | | Condition is required | No condition chosen | Choose New or Used. | | Part type is required | No part type chosen | Choose OEM, Aftermarket or Private Label. | | Valid price is required | Price is empty or not above 0 | Enter a price greater than 0. | | Quantity must be at least 1 | Qty is empty or below 1 | Enter 1 or more. | | Vehicle make is required | The Vehicle make field is empty | Type the make. Pick it from the list if it is there. | | Used parts must be OEM | Condition is Used with a non-OEM part type | Leave the part type on OEM, or set the condition to New. | | Select a GridX brand for aftermarket parts | Aftermarket with no brand | Pick a brand from the list. | | Please configure your SKU prefix in Settings before processing SKUs. | No SKU prefix on the account | Set your SKU prefix in Settings, then come back. | | Part number already exists as *SKU*. Check your inventory. | That part number is already on a part | Open the named SKU in Inventory and edit that part instead. | | You've reached your SKU limit (50/50). Upgrade your plan or use bulk upload to keep adding parts. | You have used all the SKUs on your plan. The numbers in brackets show how many you have used and how many your plan allows. 50/50 is an example. | Upgrade your plan. | | Rate limit reached. Please try again later or use bulk upload. | Too many parts added too quickly | Wait a moment, or switch to Bulk Upload. | | Processing timed out. Please try again. | The part did not finish in time | Click Process SKU again. |

Process SKU greyed out? It is disabled while a part is processing, and it stays disabled while a finished result is on screen. Click Process another, or change any field, to use it again. On the Free and eBay Sponsored plans it is also disabled once you reach your SKU limit, and a banner at the top of the page tells you so.

Setup window instead of a new part? Account setup is not finished. GridX Connect lists the outstanding steps — complete those, then add the part.

> [!NOTE] > Publishing to eBay is a company-admin action. Staff members can add and prepare parts, but cannot publish, revise or end listings.
