Raise or change your spending limit

Set, raise or remove the dollar ceiling on your overage charges from Settings > Billing, understand what a pause means, and see who is allowed to change it.

What your spending limit is

Your spending limit is a dollar ceiling you set on your overage charges — the small per-listing fee you pay for each SKU you add beyond the allowance included in your plan ($0.10 each on Pro, $0.08 each on Plus). When those overage charges reach the limit, GridX Connect pauses SKU processing until you raise the limit or the next billing cycle starts.

The limit covers overage only. It does not cap your base monthly plan fee, and it is not the same thing as your SKU allowance. Going past your included listings never blocks you on a paid plan — it starts billing you per listing, and the one thing that pauses you is the limit you set here.

The spending limit exists on paid plans only. Free and eBay Sponsored accounts have a fixed allowance instead of an overage rate, so there is nothing to raise on those plans.

> [!NOTE] > The control lives in Settings, on the Billing tab, on your usage card. The button reads Adjust limit, and the window it opens is titled Monthly spending limit.

Before you start

  • You need to be on a paid plan — Pro, Plus or Enterprise. Free and eBay Sponsored accounts do not have a spending limit.
  • The Adjust limit button appears when your plan is allowed to change its limit. Accounts that pay by card and accounts invoiced by an administrator both see it. Sponsored and Free accounts do not.
  • Have a figure in mind for how much overage you are willing to be billed in a month. This sits on top of your base plan fee — a Pro limit of $100 means "up to $100 of extra listings on top of my $100/mo Pro fee", not "$100 all in".

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then select the Billing tab.
  2. Look at your usage card. In the Overage this period column, click Adjust limit (the pencil icon).
  3. The Monthly spending limit window opens. In the Monthly limit (USD) field, type your new figure. The $ prefix is shown for you, so enter the number only.
  4. On Enterprise, you can tick No limit (unlimited) to remove the ceiling entirely. This option appears on Enterprise plans only.
  5. Click Save changes. Your new limit takes effect straight away. If SKU processing was paused because you had reached the old limit, it resumes as soon as the new limit is above what you have already spent on overage this cycle.

> [!TIP] > If you have already hit the limit, you do not need to hunt through Settings. The Spending limit reached message that appears when you try to add a part has an Increase limit button that opens the same Monthly spending limit window directly.

What "paused" means

As your overage climbs toward the limit, GridX Connect warns you at four points. The messages are:

| Overage reaches | On-screen message | Body | |---|---|---| | 50% | You're halfway to your monthly limit | No action needed — we'll let you know if you get closer. | | 75% | 75% of your monthly limit used | Increase your limit now to avoid a pause in SKU processing. | | 90% | 90% of your monthly limit used | You're close to the limit. Increase it now to keep SKU processing without interruption. | | 100% | Spending limit reached — SKU processing paused | Increase your limit to resume, or wait for the next billing cycle. |

At 100% SKU processing pauses — that means adding new SKUs (through Add Part or Bulk Upload) stops. Dismissing the message does not restart processing. To carry on you either raise the limit or wait for the next billing cycle to begin.

If you try to add a part while you are paused, you see the Spending limit reached window with the body "You've reached your monthly spending limit. SKU processing is paused — increase the limit to resume, or wait for the next billing cycle." Its two buttons are Wait for next cycle and Increase limit, and it tells you the date the next cycle starts.

Who can change the limit

Whether you see the Adjust limit button depends on how your account is billed.

| How you're billed | Can you adjust the limit? | |---|---| | You pay by card | Yes — you have the full self-serve billing controls, including Adjust limit. | | An administrator invoices you | Yes — you can still adjust your limit, even though cancelling and changing your card go through your administrator. | | eBay sponsors you | No — a sponsorship has no overage, so there is no limit to set. | | You're on Free | No — Free has a fixed lifetime allowance, not an overage rate. |

Your limit is not your SKU allowance

These are two different controls, and mixing them up is the most common billing confusion:

  • Your SKU allowance is how many listings your plan gives you. On Free it is 50 SKUs for the lifetime of the account, and on eBay Sponsored it is the allowance in your sponsorship. Both are hard stops — there is nothing to raise here, and the only way past them is to upgrade (a sponsored seller can also wait for the next period inside their window).
  • Your spending limit exists on paid plans only. It is a dollar ceiling you choose on the per-listing fees above your included allowance, and you can raise it yourself at any time on the Billing tab.

So if you are on Free or Sponsored and want to list more, you are looking for an upgrade, not the Adjust limit button — that button is not shown on those plans.

Removing the ceiling (Enterprise)

Only Enterprise can switch the limit off. In the Monthly spending limit window, Enterprise accounts see a No limit (unlimited) checkbox. Tick it and save to remove the ceiling, so overage is never paused for reaching a dollar figure. Pro and Plus accounts do not have this option and must keep a numeric limit.

If something goes wrong

  • There's no Adjust limit button. The button only appears on paid plans that are allowed to change their limit. If you are on Free or eBay Sponsored there is no spending limit to raise — your allowance is a fixed cap, and the way to list more is to upgrade or, on a sponsorship, wait for the next period.
  • You raised the limit but processing is still paused. Your new figure has to be above what you have already been billed for overage this cycle. Set it higher than your current overage spend and save again.
  • The "Spending limit reached" message won't go away when you dismiss it. Dismissing the message does not resume processing — that is by design. Raise the limit, or wait for the next billing cycle to start.
  • You saved a change but nothing seems different. The window closes with Save changes; if you closed it another way, reopen Adjust limit and confirm the figure in Monthly limit (USD) is the one you meant, then click Save changes.
